Kunstverk i Sommerlyst barne -og avlastningsboliger, Tromsø kommuneSamarbeid med Robert Johansson Verket befinner seg i hovedtrapperommet, med storslagen utsikt mot fjellene rundt Tromsø.
Vi har skapt et verk av selve trappegelenderet i dette rommet, spesielt tiltenkt de svaksynte barna på Sommerlyst.
Ved å skjære vår fortolkning av fjellandskapet ut av gelenderets treverk, søker vi å tilby en alternativ opplevelse av utsikten ved hjelp av berøring.
Utskjæringene tar utgangspunkt i de faktiske fjellenes høydeprofiler hele veien rundt Tromsøya, som en utstrakt panorama. Man kan for eksempel gjenkjenne utskjæringen av Tromsdalen i håndløperen samtidig som den faktiske Tromsdalen rager i utstikten bak.
På hver side av utskjæringene er brente motiver av karakteristisk fauna fra regionen - havørn og knølhval. Motivene snor seg rundt eikestokken og oppleves ulikt fra forskjellige posisjoner i trappen, og fra barne -og voksenperspektiv.
Dyremotivene binder kunstverket sammen med øvrige verk i bygget av lignende karakter, skapt av Johannson.
Håndløper befinner seg i trappereposet og er tilsammen 4.5 meter langt med diameter på 43cm. Senteret åpner desember 2022.

Domus Meus is situated in the main staircase of Sommerlyst Center for Challenged Children, facing an explicit view of the mountains surrounding the Island of Tromsøya.
In this special space we wanted to create an art piece integrated in the architecture, especially intented for the children with sight diabilities at Sommerlyst. By carving our interpretation of the mountain chain out of the wooden railing, we aim to provide an alternative experience throught the touch of the hand.
The latin expression Domus meus, can mean both “my house” and “my home”. The progam at Sommerlyst contains this same duality.
Surrounding the carvings are motives a hump back whale and a white-tailed eagle burned into the oak. This is fauna from the Tromsø-region, pointing to Nordberg-Schultz architectural theory about genius-loci, the spirit of place. Genius loci was originally the belief of a guardian spirit that often took the shape of a being within the animal kingdom.
The animals represented have their own specific charakteristics, strenghts and weaknesses. They can, but do not have to, function as story tellers, identification and/or analogies bound to the place, its residents, parents and staff. From the whale in the sea to the eagle in the sky, the motives may remind of the childrens game where one is to find something hidden given the clues of “bird, fish or in between”
Domus Meus bears the intention of capturing both the sublime and the concrete, allwoing the visual elements to gather the poetic ambiguity and the precise. This, in turn, is connected to expressions like Lemniskate- Natures Wheel and Naturgemaldiéen about the Natures Web of differend ecosystems and connections.
With Domus Meus all types of users can interact with the art. The tactile experience of the carvings provide individual experiences of moving through the space. The images are drawn around the railing, creating different expressions according to where in the staircase one is situated and how one is moving. Small children will have their unique experience walking underneath the railing. It was an important dimention to provide an including piece of art, all the while appealing to childrens curiosity througt the sensens of touch, smell and the visual.
